Wardruna

Delivery
We have been collaborating with Wardruna for several years. This showcase highlights two of their projects:

First Flight of the White Raven was produced as a Virtual Release Show . We provided cinematography, picture mixing and script, in addition to post-production (editing, grading, VFX and GFX).

Live at the Acropolis was recorded at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece, and we provided the entire technical camera production, including producer, cinematography, script and A-photo and camera operators, in addition to post-production (editing, grading, VFX and GFX). The concert recording was released on both BluRay and streaming services, and we produced promos for social media ahead of the launch.

First Flight of the White Raven

Wardruna combines ancient Nordic sounds with a modern soundscape. They use both traditional and historical instruments, as well as non-traditional sound sources such as trees, stones, bones, water and fire to enhance each theme.

All the songs were scripted and planned both individually so that they had their own dramaturgy, but also as a whole so that the concert had a common thread from start to finish. The concert was recorded at the Riksscenen.

Animated text posters

The concert film used text posters with excerpts from the song lyrics to set the right mood before each song.

Hell Road

(Official Live Video)

The entire concert was available for purchase, but some songs have been made available afterwards. Helvegen is one of them, and you can watch the full official video here or on YouTube.

Fehu

(Live Version)

Fehu is one of the songs made available after the concert, and you can watch the official version here or on YouTube.

The Sun Ring

Solringen is another of the songs made available following the concert film, and you can watch the full official video here or on YouTube.

Live at the Acropolis

Site visit

Since the concert was to be recorded in Greece, it was extra important that we conducted a site visit with the necessary personnel in advance of production, and clarified technical and artistic issues with key personnel.

Planning

Camera placement was chosen based on both the desired dramaturgy of the concert, and considerations that had to be taken into account based on the location. Each song was carefully planned and scripted.
